چکیده

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia caused defects in insulin secretion, reactions, or both. More than one third of diabetic patients have complications the form ulcers, and half are infected, 15% these infections require limb amputation. High cost expenditure risks microbial resistance to antibiotics also adds complexity problem. The purpose this literature review offer Nano-Oxy, using oxygen nanoparticle size, as an alternative ulcer treatment. Literature searching was conducted through online search method. Oxygen therapy has been widely used treat including hyperbaric (HOT) topical (TOT). Both them good results on therapy. can act antimicrobial agent activation mechanism neutrophils macrophages which play role phagocytosis process ROS regeneration. Nano-Oxy advantages previous therapy, such it does not cause barotrauma, poisoning, low risk burning. how works similar with Micro-nanobubbles (MNBs) concept. negatively charged surface MNBs prevent from aggregating, attracts particles, help remove debris. generate free radicals while shrinking water, contribute its antibacterial effect. In addition, Nano-oxygen technology be applied externally, but still effect intended target cells. Therefore, replace antibiotics.

Diabetic Foot Ulcer: Amputation on Request?

I n 2000, a Scottish surgeon received significant publicity for amputating lower limbs from healthy patients who were thought to have a Body Integrity Identity Disorder (1). We present a type 1 diabetic patient with a recurrent foot ulcer who requested a lower-limb amputation. Although very different, this situation also created difficult ethical issues that we have attempted to address. Peter ...

Reducing Amputation Rates After Severe Frostbite.

Evidence-Based Answer In patients with severe frostbite, tPA plus a prostacyclin may be used to decrease the risk of digital amputation. (Strength of Recommendation [SOR]: B, based on a single randomized controlled trial [RCT].) tPA can be used alone and is associated with lower amputation rates compared with local wound care. (SOR: C, based on lower-quality cohort studies.) A 2011, open-label ...

Lack of Effectiveness of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcer and the Prevention of Amputation

OBJECTIVE Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) is a device that is used to treat foot ulcers. The study goal was to compare the effectiveness of HBO with other conventional therapies administered in a wound care network for the treatment of a diabetic foot ulcer and prevention of lower-extremity amputation. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This was a longitudinal observational cohort study. To address treatmen...

Arteriosclerosis, amputation and peptic ulcer.

In a series of 400 consecutive patients with arteriosclerosis seen in two peripheral vascular clinics, we confirm the previously reported association with peptic ulcer. The incidence was almost 25% both in patients with occlusive disease (300) and with aneurysm (100). The accepted expectation of peptic ulcer in the same age-group is 6 or 7% (Jones, Kirk & Bloor, 1970; McManus, 1966). Patients w...
